Pittsfield Rye History

The story of Pittsfield Rye Bakery began back in 1929.  Charlie Robbins brought his Rye bread recipe from Brooklyn N.Y. Grandpa and his wife Tillie would make their local deliveries by way of horse and buggy. Many years later second generation baker Arnie Robbins with his wife Linda by his side continued the tradition. They made some of Pittsfield’s finest pastries along with breads.

After years of working with his parents, third generation baker Rick Robbins with his wife Renee took over the family business. This was in 2002. At that time we extended our name by adding specialty breads and company to it. The Robbins family now focuses strictly on creating breads and rolls second to none.  No matter how you slice it, Rick and Renee with their future 4th generation bakers, daughter Randi and son Ryan are looking to the future of family traditions and continued baking excellence!
